A Day in the Life: Sabbath at Evening Shade Outpost

Have you ever wondered what a typical Sabbath looks like for the community at Evening Shade? In this week’s vlog, we take you along for a full 24-hour journey of rest, worship, and fellowship—from the setting sun on Friday to the close of the Sabbath on Saturday night.

Friday Night: The Sabbath Begins The peace of the Sabbath settles over the outpost as work wraps up on Friday afternoon. The community gathers at De Mario’s house for their weekly tradition of worship, prayer, and singing to welcome the Sabbath. While they meet every Friday, the fourth Friday of every month is special—they invite neighbors and friends from the wider community for a large supper and fellowship gathering.

Sabbath Morning: The Journey to Worship After a restful night, the family heads out for an hour-long drive to Concord, Arkansas. While some families occasionally stay behind for “home church” at Evening Shade, many travel to the 7th Day Worship Center to fellowship with the wider body of believers.

The morning service includes Sabbath School—currently a deep dive into the Book of Revelation—followed by a message. This week’s sermon touched on the reality of spiritual opposition, noting how persecution often arises from within the church, just as rebellion began within heaven itself.

Sabbath Evening: Closing Together After church and lunch, the family heads back home to relax before the final gathering of the day. As the sun begins to set, the entire Evening Shade community comes together at Delbert’s house. This is a highlight of the week—a time to close the Sabbath with more songs, worship, and reflection as a family of believers.

Whether at the outpost, on the road, or in the pew, the Sabbath remains a sanctuary in time—a day to “rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”
